John Stuart Mill deserves a place on the syllabus for this class next year and here is why. He is one of the most influential philosophers who studied utilitarianism which is foundational to the study of moral problems and solutions. I think that solving a hypothetical moral problem by applying utilitarianism would be a really interesting reading assignment. I also think that moral philosophy would be a great addition to the class because it is very applicable to modern day situations. Mill is a fascinating philosopher to study and I think his work on Utilitarianism deserves a place on the syllabus and would add very valuable information to this course.
